'Afterlife' is an appropriation of found footage of war films. It subverts the usual violent and glamorising narrative of American war footage and imagines the 'afterlife' of the soldier, rather than the glamourised, heroic portrayal often depicted. The abstract and symmetrical leafy imagery further alludes to heavenly forms, with the film ending with a "burning, smoking" symmetrical bush, alluding to a need to abandon violence in favour of the spiritual side of life (the prophet's vision of the burning bush).
